Women’s Lacrosse Secures Victory Against the Mighty Macs

Immaculata, PA. – The Saints outplayed the Mighty Macs, overpowering Immaculata in a 17-4 win.

This brings their record to 13-2 overall and 4-0 in conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Saints shoot the first shot against Immaculata. Arayla Garcia earns the first draw control for Marymount to start an offensive attack, resulting in a shot opportunity. The Saints and Mighty Macs battle in the defense before Immaculata is able to slip one past the Saints. Marymount recovered quickly responding with a goal to match. The goal was scored by Tess Valentino and assisted by Riley Love. The Saints continued their momentum with a second goal scored by Natalia Ortiz from a free position. A final goal was scored by Ella Baker from a free position to end the quarter. The score was 3-1 at the end of the first.
  • Marymount continued to advance their lead in the second quarter with a fourth goal scored by Taylor Chepren from a free position. Payton Samson stole the ball from the Mighty Macs to create a goal opportunity for Baker who scored goal five for the Saints unassisted. Goal six resulted from a turnover caused by A. Garcia resulting in a goal also scored by A. Garcia with an assist from Chepren. Valentino and Love teamed up to score goal seven. The goal was scored by Valentino with the assist from Love. The Saints scored four more goals before the end of the half. The goals were scored by Brooke Bretney with two goals, Valentino with one, and Carmella Garcia with one.
  • Nothing slowed Marymount's momentum in the second half. Baker scored the first goal of the half assisted by Love. The Saints continued to put pressure on the Mighty Macs with goal thirteen scored by Chepren from the eight meter. Hannah smith made a save in the goal, sending a successful clear for Bailey Gehler to score assisted by Chepren. Immaculata was last to score in the third quarter which ended with a score of 14-2.
  • The Saints battled in the final quarter, scoring three final goals in the game. The goals were scored by Valentino from a man down position assisted by Love, Gehler assisted by Baker, and A. Garcia assisted by Chepren.
  • Notable moments by the Saints: Valentino scored four goals. Love and Chepren each assisted in five goals. A. Garcia had nine successful draw controls. Smith saved ten goals against Immaculata.
