Arlington, VA- Marymount takes two losses in the doubleheader against Messiah University. The score of game one was 2-6 and game two 0-6.
After games twenty-seven and twenty-eight, the Saints hold a record of 10-18 overall and 2-2 in conference.
GAME ONE: 2-6
- Starting in the field, the Saints earned three immediate outs to end the top of the first. Marymount's Kaylynn Johnson hit a single to left center during the Saints' at bat.
- The Saints responded to the three runs scored by the Falcons in the top of the second with two runs. Hailey Leamer doubled to center field, followed by a single by Jenna Jew to left field that advanced Leamer to third. Ashleigh Mannion brought Leamer home and advanced Jew to second with a single hit to right field. Kammie Brown hit a single to center field that batted in Mannion.
- Messiah added a fifth run to the bord in the third.
- The Saints kept the Falcons to no hits in the fourth.
- Messiah added a final run in the top of the fifth, bringing the score to 2-6.
- The Saints gained one hit in the fifth and two hits in the seventh. The hit in the fifth was earned by Johnson with a double to right field. The hits in the seventh were earned by Brown who singled through the left side and Samantha Cinotti with a single to center field.
- Notable moments by the Saints: Hailey Leamer and Ashleigh Mannion each scored a run. Kammie Brown and Kaylynn Johnson each earned two hits for the Saints. Leila Hernandez had six put outs in left field. Bailey Demusz threw three strikeouts against the Falcons.
GAME TWO: 0-6
- Messiah gained an early lead with one run scored in the first. Johnson earned a single in the first for the Saints.
- The second, third, and fourth innings saw little action for the Saints.
- In the fifth, Marymount's Mannion double to centerfield.
- Marymount kept Messiah to no hits in the sixth. During the Saints' at bat, Hernandez hit a single.
- The Saints fielded a three up three down in the seventh. Marymount's Mannion doubled in the seventh. The game ended with a score of 0-6
- Notable moments by the Saints: Ashleigh Mannion led the Saints with two hits. Samantha Papp earned ten put outs at first. Kaylee Atkins threw three strikeouts against the Falcons.
- UP NEXT
- The Saints will play at home on Thursday April 10th against Hood College at Barcroft Park. Game one will take place at 3pm and game two will take place at 5pm.
