Men's Lacrosse Downs Neumann

ASTON, Pa. -- Marymount men's lacrosse moved to 3-0 in Atlantic East play on Wednesday evening, taking down the Knights of Neumann by a final score of 20-13.

The win put the Saints overall record to 8-4 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Saints got up to a quick 4-0 lead in the first quarter, with Gavin Taylorson netting three in the run to open up the night.
  • After the Knights put one in the back of the net to finish off the first quarter, the Saints answered with three more of their own to open the second.
  • Neumann scored with to inch closer, but Cameron Glass and Evan Mata each scored to finish the first half to maintain momentum heading into the second.
  • Three more to open the third quarter, with two out of the stick of Ian Fructuoso, gave Marymount a 12-3 advantage.
  • With a back-and-forth beginning, Neumann closed to gap to eight goals heading into the fourth and final quarter.
  • Fructuoso and Maguire combined for three goals to open the fourth to give the Saints some cushion.
  • Neumann scored five down the stretch, but it would prove to not be enough as the Saints held on and secured the Atlantic East win.
  • Maguire had seven points on three goals and four assists, adding a trio of ground balls.
  • Fructuoso had six points, all on goals, adding two caused turnovers and four ground balls.
  • Taylorson finished the day with five points on three goals and two assists, with two ground balls.
  • Drew Bedard had two goals for the Saints.
  • Glass, Patrick Miller, Mata, Roan Schumann, and Santino Rossitto all added goals in the win.
  • Spencer Carfang caused three turnovers and picked up three ground balls.
  • Glass went 11-21 out of the face off with seven ground balls.
  • Howard Otto caused two turnovers and picked up two ground balls.
  • Matthew Davis earned the win in the goal with eight saves.
UP NEXT
  • The Saints will stay on the road on Saturday, heading to Centenary to take on the Cyclones at 12 PM.
  • They will be back at Long Bridge Park next Wednesday for their regular season home finale at 7 PM against Immaculata.
