Women's Lacrosse Takes Down Marywood in Double Overtime

SCRANTON, Pa. -- Marymount women's lacrosse fought hard in a double overtime win over the Pacers of Marywood Saturday, 11-10.

With the Atlantic East opening win, the Saints move to 10-2 overall on the season, now sitting 1-0 in AEC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Marywood opened up the day with a pair of goals to take the early advantage. Jillian Blair got the Saints on the board to cut the lead in half off the pass from Riley Love.
  • The Pacers went on a three-goal spurt to extend their lead to 5-1.
  • Arayla Garcia, Love, and Ella Baker each found the back of the net to close out the first half and put Marymount within a lone goal.
  • Tess Valentino scored the equalizer to open up the second half, her first of the day.
  • Marywood again answered with three of their own to take a three goal lead.
  • A four goal run to close out the third gave Marymount the lead again and push momentum back to the Saints bench.
  • After the Pacers tied it all up early in the fourth, Marymount again retook the lead, hoping to close it out.
  • Marywood evened up the tally with under a minute left to force overtime.
  • After the two teams continued to battle, the Saints came through. Garcia found Love with the open look, with Love sinking the opportunity to give Marymount the win.
  • Love led the Saints with four points on two goals and two assists.
  • Valentino collected three points on two goals and an assist, adding a caused turnover.
  • Garcia and Taylor Chepren each had two points on a goal and an assist.
  • Abby Dunn picked up four ground balls and secured three draw controls.
  • Bailey Gehler had a goal with three draw controls, a caused turnover, and a ground ball.
  • Hannah Smith earned the win in the goal with 14 saves.

  • Marymount will be back at Long Bridge Park next Wednesday, taking on Neumann at 4 PM.
