Baseball Drops Series Finale on Senior Day

TYSONS, Va. -- Marymount baseball celebrated their seniors ahead of the series-finale against Centenary on Saturday.

Despite the hard-fought loss, the Saints still sport a 10-2 record in Atlantic East play, looking to host their second-straight tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Centenary plated a trio of runs in the top of the first to put Marymount behind the eight ball quickly.
  • Bobby Leitzel knocked a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second, scoring Jordan Dickson who walked to lead off the frame to cut into the deficit.
  • The Cyclones put up a five spot in the top of the fifth to take a commanding lead at the ballpark.
  • Andrew Schaeb hit his second home run in as many days in the bottom of the fifth, hoping to spark life into the Marymount offense.
  • Three more from Centenary continued to extend their lead in the top part of the seventh.
  • The Saints showed life in the bottom frame of the seventh inning, as they would score four runs on RBI singles off the bats of Dickson, Daniel Fernandez, and Ryan Wright.
  • Down 11-6, the Saints had some work to do in the bottom of the ninth. Leitzel drove in his second RBI of the day and Schaeb drove in another to try to mount the comeback, but it ultimately fell short as the Saints would drop the contest 11-8.
  • Quincy Via and Ryan Cuadros each added a pair of hits to the day.
  • Fernandez had a 3-4 day at the dish with an RBI.
  • Wright drove in two runs on his 2-5 outing.
  • Ketz Murray, Owen Mead, and Michael Arce each had scoreless outings out of the bullpen.
