Hackettstown, NJ- Marymount came out swinging in their match up against the Cyclones, dominating at the plate and on defense for a 12-0 shutout in game one and hard fought 17-10 victory in game two.
After games thirty-one and thirty-two, the Saints hold a record of 15-21 overall and 7-3 in conference.
GAME ONE: 12-0
- After no runs were scored in the first inning for either team, the Saints started their rally with four runs scored in the second. Leila Hernandez hit a triple to center field that batted in Hailey Leamer, Jenna Jew, and Samantha Papp for three RBIs. The fourth run was scored from a single by Kaylynn Johnson to send Hernandez home from third. The Saints continued to hold the Cyclones at no runs in the bottom of the second.
- Marymount continued rallying in the third, seeing four more runners home. Kammie Brown batted in Jew and Papp, reaching on an error by the third base position. Samantha Cinotti singled to center field, scoring Brown. Cinotti stole home for the final run of the inning. Centenary remained shutout in the third.
- The Saints scored their final runs in the top of the fourth. Kaylee Atkins was first home, taking advantage of a passed ball. Papp batted in Leamer for the second run of the inning. For run three, Jew scored on a wild pitch. Cinotti contributed to the final run of the game by making contact with the ball and batting in Papp.
- Marymount continued to hold a strong defense in the field, refusing the Cyclones any scoring opportunities.
- Notable moments by the Saints: Jenna Jew and Samantha Papp each led the Saints with three runs. Leila Hernandez contributed three RBIs. Haley Greer was accredited with eight put outs in the game. Bailey Demusz claimed the win with eight strikeouts against the Cyclones.
GAME TWO: 17-10
- Marymount put the first run on the board in game two. Johnson hit a sacrifice fly to center field giving Brown a chance to score. Centenary fought back in game two overtaking the Saints with two runs in the bottom of the first.
- The Saints were held to no runs by the Cyclones in the second inning while Centenary added four more runs to increase their lead.
- The score remained 1-6 at the end of the third with no runs scored by either team in the inning.
- Marymount fought back in the fourth, evening the score 6-6 at the top of the inning. The runs were scored from three hits. The first hit was earned by Jew who singled to center field and batted in Greer. The second hit came from Papp with a double to left center scoring both Atkins and Jew. Hernandez scored runs five and six with a homerun to bat in herself and Papp. The Cyclones added on one run to keep the lead entering the fifth inning.
- The Saints continued to bat runners home in the fifth, scoring two additional runs. Leamer doubled to left field to bring home both Greer and Atkins. The Cyclones scored three runs refusing the Saints lead.
- The game was even in the sixth inning with runs for Marymount earned from a single by Johnson to score Cinotti and a single by Atkins to score Tara Corcoran. The score was 10-10 at the end of the sixth.
- The Saints overtook the lead in the seventh, rallying past the cyclones with seven runs. Brown hit a sacrifice fly to score Papp. Cinotti hit a single to right field to score Hernandez. Johnson hit a triple to left field to score Cinotti. Atkins hit a single to left field to score Johnson. Leamer hit a double to left field bringing in Atkins. Jew singled to center to bring Leamer home. Papp ended the Saints rally with a single to second that scored Jew. The Cyclones were unable to add any runs in the seventh, awarding victory of game two to the Saints.
- Notable moments by the Saints: Kaylee Atkins led the Saints in runs scored with three runs. Samantha Cinotti earned four hits for the Saints. Kaylynn Johnson, Hailey Leamer, and Samantha Papp each had three RBIs. Leila Hernandez hit a home run. Emma McCormack with two, Kaylee Atkins with three, and Bailey Demusz with four, totaled nine strikeouts against the Cyclones in game two.
