Men's Lacrosse Secures #2 Seed With Definitive Win

GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. -- Marymount men's lacrosse made a statement to end the regular season, taking down the Griffins of Gwynedd Mercy on the road in Atlantic East action with hosting rights on the line.

With the 17-5 win, the Saints have secured an Atlantic East Semifinal hosting opportunity this Saturday at Long Bridge Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Bryan Maguire opened the evening with three-straight goals, two assisted by Gavin Taylorson, to give Marymount the early advantage.
  • After a pair from Ian Fructuoso, the Saints allowed their first goal of the evening, but Maguire answered with one more to hold a 6-1 lead after the first period.
  • Marymount outscored Gwynedd Mercy 5-1 in the second quarter, highlighted by a pair of goals from Taylorson, to take a commanding 11-2 lead into the second half.
  • Robert Kirkland IV and Santino Rossitto went back-to-back to open up the second half and keep Marymount in the driver's seat. 
  • Down the stretch, it was all Saints as they held onto their big lead and took the win with ease.
  • Maguire led the Saints with eight points on five goals and three assists, adding a caused turnover and a ground ball.
  • Taylorson notched six points on two goals and four assists.
  • Fructuoso ended the day with five points on three goals and two assists.
  • Rossitto had a goal and two assists.
  • Evan Mata notched two goals and an assist for three points.
  • Drew Bedard had a pair of goals and an assist.
  • Kai Goo added a goal for the Saints.
  • Cameron Glass went 10-11 in the circle with nine ground balls picked up.
  • Spencer Carfang caused a pair of turnovers.
  • James Doss had two caused turnovers and a ground ball.
  • Howard Otto picked up three ground balls.
  • Matthew Davis earned the win in the goal with nine total saves.
