Men's Lacrosse Comeback Falls Just Short Against Hood

ARLINGTON, Va. -- Marymount men's lacrosse battled hard at home on Wednesday against the Blazers of Hood College, falling just short in a late-minutes comeback attempt.

With the loss, the Saints overall record sits at 6-4 on the season, with AEC play beginning on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Hood opened the afternoon with a trio of unanswered goals, putting the Saints in a hole early on.
  • Robert Kirkland IV found Gavin Taylorson for the first goal of the day to get the ball rolling on the Saints' bench. Iac Fructuoso followed it up with an unassisted netting to get Marymount within one.
  • The Blazers climbed their way back to a 6-2 lead with three straight goals.
  • Kirkland IV netted two straight to open up the second half, followed by Kai Goo notching his first goal of the day, to cut the lead down to 6-5 in the third quarter.
  • After three more Hood goals, Kirkland IV put another goal in the net to work to get momentum back to Marymount.
  • Down by four with just under three minutes left, the Saints came marching.
  • Kirkland IV gave the pass to Taylorson to get one back, followed by Fructuoso dishing the perfect pass to Bryan Maguire to get within two. After an unassisted goal out of the stick of Mason Vandawater, Marymount put themselves into a position to even up the score in the late going.
  • Hood got the stop they needed, taking the game from the hosting Saints at Long Bridge Park.
  • Kirkland IV led the way for the Saints with five points on three goals and two assists.
  • Taylorson ended the day with four points on three goals and an assist.
