TYSONS, Va. -- Marymount baseball took on Christopher Newport University on Monday evening at Capital One Park, falling by a final score of 13-3.
The loss puts the Saints overall record to 18-12 on the season.
NOTABLE
- With his stolen base in the bottom of the fifth inning, junior Quincy Via broke the single season record for stolen bases, now sitting at 28 on the year.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Captains put up six runs in the first three innings, putting Marymount in an early hole.
- Via knocked an RBI triple, followed by a sacrifice fly off the bat of Bobby Leitzel to score Via, to get the Saints on the board.
- Marymount was unable to post the shutdown inning, as CNU put six more on the board in the top of the sixth inning.
- The Saints scratched across another run in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI single from Leitzel.
- That would spell the end for the contest, as CNU held on for the win.
- Via, on his historic day, had two hits with a triple, driving in a run.
- Leitzel had two RBI.
- Jack McCarthy and Jordan Dickson each had a hit.
- Liam Progulske threw a scoreless inning of relief.
UP NEXT
- The Saints will head to Neumann to finish out their series with the Knights tomorrow, with first pitch slated for 3:30 PM.
- They will be back at Capital One Park Wednesday, Apr. 23 against Penn State Harrisburg at 6 PM.
