Coach Cassidy Earns 100th Career Win in Dominant Day for Baseball

ARLINGTON, Va. -- It was a historic day for Marymount baseball on Sunday in double header action against AEC foe Neumann University, as head coach Mike Cassidy earned his 100th career win at the helm of Marymount baseball in the dominant game two win for the Saints.

Marymount improved to 18-11 overall on the season, now sitting comfortably at 8-0 in the AEC.

MARYMOUNT 14 - NEUMANN 4
  • Jordan Dickson went a perfect 5-for-5 in the opener of the day, knocking a double while driving in four RBI.
  • Jack McCarthy and Andrew Schaeb each had two hits with a double, both knocking in a pair of RBI.
  • David Muirhead went the distance on the mound, tossing 7.0 innings with seven strikeouts to earn the win on the mound.
  • Ryan Cuadros went 3-4 at the dish.
  • Jonathan McMath had two RBI while knocking a hit.
  • Kevin Knoes and Daniel Fernandez each had a hit, with Knoess driving in a run.
  • Quincy Via had two RBI out of the leadoff spot with a hit, adding a stolen bag. He remains in the top 20 in all of Division III.
MARYMOUNT 22 - NEUMANN 6
  • Coach Cassidy earned his 100th win in the second game of the day in just his fourth season as the head coach.
  • The Saints pounded 19 total hits.
  • Leitzel went perfect at the plate, going 4-4 with six total RBI.
  • Schaeb knocked his first home run of the season.
  • Cuadros went 3-4 with two RBI and a double.
  • Via went 2-3 out of the leadoff spot with a double, adding two RBI.
  • McMath drove in four runs with a double.
  • Francis Swekosky went 2-2 after pinch hitting for the Saints, driving in a run.
  • Dickson collected two more hits on the day.
  • Fernandez went 1-2 while driving in a run, swiping two bags, and scoring three times.
  • McCarthy added two more hits and an RBI to his day.
  • Owen Mead earned the win on the mound after going 3.0 innings out of the bullpen, not allowing a run or walking a batter.
UP NEXT
  • The Saints will be back at Capital One Park tomorrow evening, hosting Christopher Newport with a 6 PM first pitch.
  • They will hit the road to finish the series with Neumann on Tuesday at 3:30 PM.
