Raleigh, NC- Marymount starts their spring break series with a 2-7 loss against Rowan University and a 11-3 win against Randolph College.
After games seven and eight, the Saints hold a record of 3-5.
GAME ONE: 2-7
- Marymount stepped up first to the plate seeing two hits in the first inning, Samantha Cinotti with a single and Kaylynn Johnson with a double. The bottom of the inning saw two runs for Rowan giving them the early lead. The Saints gained their outs from a fly out to center field, a ground out to third base, and a line drive that was caught in right field.
- Inning two started with an out against the Saints before Ashleigh Mannion was hit by a pitch to gain a place on first. Haley Greer held her swing for a walk, putting two on base for the Saints. The next two batters were thrown out and caught out for outs two and three. This left Mannion and Greer in base at the end of the at bat. Marymount saw three up three down in the field ending the second inning 0-2 with no runs scored for either team in the second.
- Responding to the Saints quick outs during the second inning in the field, Rowan put all three Marymount batters out with a fly caught in right field, a grounded out to shortstop, and a strike out to switch the at bat. The top of the fourth, top of the fifth and sixth saw the same no hits for Marymount. Rowan added four runs to the board in the bottom of the fifth making the score 7-0. The Saints earned their outs in the field during the bottom of the sixth from a pop up caught at shortstop, a fly ball caught in center field, and a strike out from the circle.
- The top of the seventh saw some action at the plate for the Saints. With one out on the board, Leamer was hit by a pitch placing her pinch runner, Tara Corcoran, on first. A hit was gained by Mannion who advanced Corcoran to second and singled up the middle putting two on base. Out number two was caught before Samantha Papp singled to third and advancing both Corcoran and Mannion. Jenna Jew stepped up hitting a single to left field, batting in Corcoran for the Saints first run of the game. Kammie Brown kept the Saints alive by reaching first on a muffed throw, giving Mannion the opportunity to score. The final out was claimed by Rowan's pitcher ending game in a loss for the Saints. The score ended 7-2.
- Notable moments by the Saints: Samantha Cinotti led the Saints in putouts with five outs added to her stats for the game. Cinotti, Johnson, Mannion, Papp, and Jew each had one hit for the Saints. Kaylee Atkin pitched two strikeouts during her two innings pitching.
GAME TWO: 5-7
- Atkins started in the circle for Marymount. Randolph gained the first two runs of the game. The outs in the top of the first were gained from a popup to first base, a fly ball caught in center field, and grounder to shortstop. The Saints started their at bat strong with a double down the left field line from Brown. Marymount placed another runner on base after Johnson was walked by the pitcher. Leila Hernandez was the second runner to be walked placing a third runner on base. Mannion batted in Brown for the Saints first run of the game. Keeping the bats swinging, Leamer singled to centerfield giving Hernandez the opportunity to score the second run for the Saints. Greer batted in the final runner of the inning for the Saints to overtake the Wildcats' lead. This ended the inning with Marymount claiming the lead 3-2.
- The second inning saw no added runs for either team. Marymount continued denying Randolph any run opportunities in the third inning, gaining outs from a ground ball to shortstop, a ground out to third base, and a throw out at second base in a fielder's choice. The Saints added a fourth run to the board after a series of hits for Marymount. Cinotti singled, placing her on base for Johnson to advance with a single of her own. Hernandez laid down a bunt that would see Cinotti and Johnson advanced into scoring positions. Mannion put the ball into play batting Cinotti in to score. The score after the third was 4-2 in favor of Marymount.
- Randolph narrowed Marymount's lead in the fourth, scoring their third run off a wild pitch. The Saints responded by rallying in the bottom of the fourth claiming an additional seven runs to further widen the lead. Greer started the rally for the Saints with a single to center field. Corcoran took over on base to pitch run for Greer. Jew was the next on base for the Saints with a single to center field that advanced Corcoran from second to third and into scoring position. Brown singled resulting in run number five scored by Corcoran and an advancement of Jew to third. Cinotti grounded out but gave Jew the opportunity to score run number six and advanced Brown to third. Johnson was walked at the plate adding another runner to the bases. Hernandez singled through the right-side batting in Brown for run number seven and advancing Johnson. Johnson and Hernandez scored runs eight and nine from a single hit by Leamer. Run number ten was earned from a single by Greer that brought Mannion home. The final run of the inning was scored by Leamer who was batted in by Papp.
- The game ended in the bottom of the fifth after Marymount prevented all hit attempts made by Randolph during their at bat, and no more runs were scored Marymount claimed the victory with a score of 11-3.
- Notable moments by the Saints: Â Kammie Brown, Leila Hernandez, and Ashleigh Mannion all led the Saints for runs scored with each scoring two. Kammie Brown and Haley Greer each went three for three with hits during their three at bats. Samantha Papp claimed nine putouts for the Saints at first base. Emma McCormack was awarded the win for the Saints, pitching four innings, and causing two strikeouts.

- The Saints will continue on the road for their spring break series in Raleigh, NC. Next the Saints will face the University of Lynchburg at 9:30am and Ferrum College at 2:30pm on Sunday March 9th. Both games with be played in Raleigh, NC.
- The Saints will return home on Tuesday March 11th to compete against Worcester Polytechnic Institute at 1pm and 3pm. The games will take place at Barcroft Park. Â
