Softball Takes Losses Against Immaculata

Immaculata, PA- Marymount takes losses in the games against Immaculata. Game one ended 7-10 and game two ended 3-5.

After games nineteen and twenty, the Saints hold a record of 6-14.

GAME ONE: 7-10
  • Starting in the field at home, the Saints defended against the Mighty Macs. The Saints conceded no runs in the first inning and allowed only two hits. The outs were earned in the field from a fly ball to first, a fly ball in left field, and a fly ball to second. The Saints gained an immediate advantage in the game with Kammie Brown claiming a spot on first from a walk from the circle. Brown stole second to move into a scoring position. Samantha Cinotti sent Brown home with a double to score the first run of the game. Kaylynn Johnson was next at bat, hitting a single and advancing Cinotti to third. Johnson stole second putting two runners in scoring position. The next two batters ended in outs still leaving two runners on base for the Saints. Haley Greer batted next, hitting a single that brought in both Cinotti and Johnson to score. Ashleigh Mannion followed the hitting streak with a double putting runners on second and third. Greer was caught attempting to steal home for the final out of the inning. The first inning score was 3-0.
  • In the field for the top of inning two, the Saints earned three consecutive outs after walking the first batter. The put outs came from a fly ball out to left field, a grounded out to second base, and a strikeout from the circle. Beginning Marymount's at bat, Samantha Papp reached first on a fielding error. Leila Hernandez advanced Papp to second with a single. Brown batted next, reaching first on a fielder's choice that advanced Hernandes to second but put out Papp at third. After an out in center field, Hernandez stole third and Brown stole second. Johnson was walked, making the bases loaded for the Saints. Kaylee Atkins cleared the bases with a double that brought Hernandez, Brown, and Johnson home. Atkins was left on base at the end of the inning. Marymount furthered their lead to 6-0 at the end of the second.
  • The Mighty Macs fought back against the Saints, gaining three runs in the bottom of the third. Marymount earned the outs in the field from a grounded out to the circle, a strike out from the circle, and a fly ball to left field. The Saints were three up and three down in their at bat gaining no additional hits or runs. The score was 6-3 at the end of the third.
  • Marymount kept Immaculata to only one hit and no runs in the fourth. The put outs came from a strikeout, a throw out at second, and a grounded out at the third base position. The Saints had two hits in the bottom of the fourth by Brown who doubled and Johnson who singled and brought in Brown to score. Johnson was left on base at the end of the fourth.
  • Immaculata evened the score in the top of the fifth, scoring four runs. The Saints earned the outs in the field from a strikeout, a grounded out to second, and a fly ball to center field. The Saints had two hits by Greer and Papp who both singled, but no runs were scored. The score was even at 7-7 to end the fifth.
  • Immaculata overtook Marymount in the sixth inning. The Mighty Macs scored one in the sixth and two in the seventh. The Saints had two more hits in the game, a single by Atkins in the sixth and a single by Hernandez in the Seventh. The game ended in a 7-10 loss for the Saints.
  • Notable moments by the Saints: Kammie Brown earned three runs for Marymount in the game. Kaylynn Johnson went two for two, earning two hits and scoring two runs during her two at bats. Kaylee Atkins batted in three runs. Bailey Demusz pitched four strikeouts.
GAME TWO: 3-5
  • Immaculata takes the early lead with three hits and one run to start the game. The Saints earned the outs on defense from a fly ball to left field, a caught foul ball near third, and a ground out to second. Marymount had two hits in the first at bat, a single to center by Cinotti and a single by Johnson to center field.
  • The Saints limited the Mighty Macs to one hit in the second. The outs on defense came from a ground out to first, a ground out to second, and a ground out to shortstop. Marymount went three up three down in the bottom of the second. The score remained 0-1.
  • Marymount came back from the third inning by denying hit and run opportunities for Immaculata. The Saints field players earned three outs from a ground out to third, a pop up to right field, and a grounded out to second. Starting the at bat for the Saints, Hernandez tripled to left field. Brown sent Hernandez home with a single to score the first run for the Saints. Johnson and Greer both singled in the inning. Three runners were left on base to end the third. The score was tied 1-1.
  • The Mighty Macs broke the tie by scoring a run in the fourth. The outs in the field came from a strikeout, a fly out to center field, and a pop up to third. The Saints were three up three down in their at bat, with no additional hits or runs. fourth inning score was 1-2.
  • Marymount kept Immaculata from adding anymore runs to the board in the fifth inning. The outs were earned from a pop up to second, a grounded out from the pitcher, and a grounded out at second. Batting first in the inning was Brown with a single to center field. Cinotti advanced Brown to second with another single. Johnson walked, placing Brown at third and Cinotti at second. A fielder's choice saw Atkins to first while advancing Johnson but put out Brown at home. Greer flied out to left field but batted in Johnson to even the score with Immaculata. Two were left on base at the end of the inning. The Score was tied 2-2.
  • Immaculata retook the lead in the top of the sixth with three runs added. Marymount ended the Mighty Macs at bat with a pop up to second, a fly ball to right field, and a fly ball to center field. The Saints saw one hit in the sixth by Jenna Jew who singled to center field. The score at the end of the sixth was 2-5.
  • The Saints did not allow any additional runs for the Mighty Macs in the seventh, holding them to a three-point lead. Marymount earned the outs in the field from grounded double play by the short stop, second base, and first base players, and a grounded out to third base. Marymount attempted a comeback in the seventh but the two hits and one run were not able to overtake Immaculata's lead. The hits were made by Atkins to left field and Greer to left field. Both were singles. One final run was made by Atkins who was batted in by Jew. The game ended in a 3-5 loss.
  • Notable moments by the Saints: Samantha Cinotti, Kaylee Atkins, and Leila Hernandez each scored one run for the Saints. Kammie Brown had two hits and one RBI during her at bats. Jenna Jew had nine put outs in the game.
UP NEXT
  • The Saints are on the road Tuesday April 1st for a doubleheader against Sweet Briar College in Sweet Briar, VA. The games will start at 2pm and 4pm.
  • The Saints will return home on Saturday April 5th for a doubleheader matchup against Marywood University. The start times are 1pm and 3pm at Barcroft Park.
