Men's Volleyball Fights Against Rutgers Newark

Newark, NJ.-- Marymount men's volleyball fell in their fight against Rutgers Newark in a hard fought 5-set match. The Saints lost 3-2, but will fight again tonight.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Marymount's team leaders in kills was Diego Pena, who racked up 13 kills.
  • Similarly, Diego Pena accounted for 27 assists.
  • Seth Richards made a huge impact in the game, with six total blocks.
  • Esteban Jauregui was able to lead the team in digs with 11 total.
  • In the first set, Rutgers-N claimed the first four points, and the Saints were never able to catch back up.
  • Set one closed out with a score of 25-14, in favor of Rutgers-N.
  • Moving onto the second set, the teams tied it up nine times, with Marymount eventually claiming the win.
  • Set two was won by the Saints with a close call of 25-23.
  • In a similar fashion, Marymount and Rutgers-N dances toe-to-toe in set three.
  • The Saints fell short, losing set three 25-21.
  • Although set four opened up in Rutgers-N's favor, Marymount was able to bounce back and win set four. 
  • All tied up, the two teams went into their last and final set, where the Saints fell short 19-17.
