GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. -- Marymount baseball finished off the sweep over AEC foe Gwynedd Mercy on the road Saturday, winning both sides of the series-ending double header.
With the pair of wins, the Saints now sit at 3-0 in Atlantic East action, 13-10 overall on the season.
MARYMOUNTÂ 9 - GWYNEDD MERCY 4
- The Saints scored in all but one inning in the first game of the day, starting off with Andrew Schaeb driving in a run via a sacrifice fly in the first frame of the afternoon.
- Marymount plated two more in the second, followed by another in the third to take a four-run lead.
- Ryan Cuadros hit his second triple in as many days in the top of the fourth, scoring Schaeb. Kevin Knoess followed it up with an RBI knock to score Cuadros.
- One more in the fifth and two more in the top of the seventh gave Marymount the cushion they needed for Michael Arce to finish it off on the mound.
- Bobby Leitzel and Cuadros each had two hits, with Cuadros driving in an RBI.
- Knoess and Jordan Dickson both had two hits, each with an RBI.
- Evan Schick, Gray Ellenburg, and Daniel Fernandez each added on a hit for the Saints.
- Quincy Via and Leitzel each stole a bag.
- Arce earned the win on the mound, going 2.2 innings out of the bullpen with a pair of strike outs.
MARYMOUNT 10 - GWYNEDD MERCY 0
- The Saints brought out the brooms in shutout fashion in game three, with Jay Wandell tossing a complete game shutout with a trio of strikeouts.
- Cuadros knocked a two-run double in the top of the first to get the Saints moving. Joseph Kramp followed it up with an RBI single up the middle to give Marymount a quick 3-0 advantage.
- Leitzel drove an RBI single in the top of the fourth to extend the Marymount lead.
- After another run in the top of the fifth, the Saints tacked on five more in the sixth via RBI hits from Schaeb, Schick, Knoess, and Jack McCarthy to hit the necessary 10 runs to secure the mercy rule win, their second of the series.
- Leitzel went 3-for-5 with an RBI.
- Schick knocked in a pair of runs in his 2-3 outing.
- Dickson went 2-4 in the nightcap.
- Anthony Farmakides and Tyler Woodring each added a hit for the Saints.
- Via stole a pair of bags.
UP NEXT
- Marymount will get back to non-conference action on Tuesday, traveling to Bridgewater for a 4 PM first pitch.
- They will get back to AEC play next weekend, heading to Marywood for a three-game slate starting Friday.
