BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- Marymount baseball stayed on the road on Tuesday, traveling to non-conference foe Bridgewater College for their second game against the Eagles this season.
Taking the loss, 17-3, the Saints move their record to 13-11 on the season.
NOTABLE
- With his single in the top of the first, shortstop Bobby Leitzel became the all-time hits leader in Marymount baseball history. He now sits at 194 hits in his career, overtaking the spot held by Luke Tyree.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a quiet top of the first from the Saints, Bridgewater plated three to take a quick lead.
- With runners on first and second in the top of the third inning, Leitzel drove a single to load the bases. Andrew Schaeb knocked a sacrifice fly, and after Quincy Via scored from third, Ryan Cuadros knocked in the tying run to make it a brand new ballgame.
- The Eagles scored six in the fifth and eight more in the seventh to put the game to its final score.
- Evan Schick added three hits for the Saints, raising his season batting average to .500.
- Kevin Knoess and Leitzel each had two hits.
- Cuadros had Marymount's lone other hit.
- Leitzel added a trio of stolen bags on the day.
UP NEXT
- Marymount will get back to conference play this weekend, staying on the road to Marywood with their three-game set starting on Friday.
- They will be back at Capital One Park next Friday, Apr. 11, at 3:30 PM.
