Smith Earns 400th Career Save in Women's Lacrosse Win

ARLINGTON, Va. -- In yet another historic day for Marymount women's lacrosse, the Saints shutout visiting Eastern Mennonite 20-0 at Long Bridge Park to move to 9-2 on the season.

In the win, goalie Hannah Smith notched her 400th career save.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Saints scored six times in the first quarter, highlighted by a pair of goals out of the stick of Tess Valentino, to take an early 6-0 lead heading into the switch of sides.
  • Marymount put up another six-goal quarter in the second, with Ella Baker sinking a pair, to continue their dominance.
  • Valentino scored twice more to open up the second half, followed by goals from Mackenzie Morrissette and Jillian Blair, to keep racking up the tallies.
  • Four more goals in the final quarter, capped off by Natalia Oritz dishing a perfect pass to Kaylee Heath, finished off the day for the Saints.
  • On top of earning her 400th career save, Smith put up her first shutout of the season in the win with six total saves on the day.
  • Valentino led the Saints with six total goals alongside a ground ball.
  • Riley Love had four points on a goal and three assists, adding a pair of ground balls.
  • Blair notched a trio of points on two goals and an assist.
  • Taylor Chepren had a goal and two assists for three points.
  • Bailey Gehler put two in the net, adding five draws, four ground balls, and two caused turnovers.
  • Abby Dunn caused two turnovers, picked up a pair of ground balls, and won six draw controls.
  • Carmella Garcia had two goals and three draws.
  • Ortiz notched an assist with a caused turnover and ground ball.
  • Peyton Samson picked up three ground balls.
  • Arayla Garcia had a goal with two draws.
UP NEXT
  • The Saints will take some time off before conference play, heading to Marywood on Saturday, Apr. 5 for a 11 AM first draw.
  • They will be back at Long Bridge Park Wednesday, Apr. 9 at 4 PM for AEC action.
