WINCHESTER, Va. -- Marymount baseball outhit Shenandoah University on Monday afternoon, but a late-inning comeback from the Hornets put the Saints on the short end of the non-conference affair, 8-7.
The Saints now sit at 10-10 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jack McCarthy punched an RBI single in the opening frame of the day to give Marymount a quick 1-0 lead.
- The Saints extended their lead in the top of the second, before a sacrifice fly off the bat of Andrew Schaeb in the top of the third gave Marymount a 3-0 lead in the early going.
- Shenandoah scored twice in the bottom of the third inning, but MU scored yet again in the top of the fourth to try to keep the momentum.
- The Hornets took their first lead of the afternoon in the bottom of the fourth inning with a four-run frame. Marymount would cut the lead in half in the corresponding top of the fifth.
- Jordan Dickson drove in a run to even up the score in the top of the sixth inning, followed by Quincy Via putting down a bunt to put pressure on the Hornets' defense to cause another run to score and give Marymount the lead again.
- Runs in the bottom of the eighth and ninth innings from Shenandoah spelled the end of the day for the Saints.
- Ryan Cuadros went 3-5 with an RBI.
- Bobby Leitzel, Schaeb, McCarthy, and Kevin Knoess each had a pair of hits.
- Via and Evan Schick each had a hit.
- Liam Progulske and Jay Stiff each had scoreless outings out of the bullpen.

- Marymount will get into conference play this Friday at Capital One Park, starting their three-game series with Gwynedd Mercy at 3 PM.
