TYSONS, Va. -- Marymount baseball matched up with The University of Mary Washington on Tuesday evening at Capital One Park, falling in the high-scoring affair by a final tally of 16-7.
The loss puts Marymount's overall record to 10-8 on the season as they head to the halfway mark of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles got on the board first with a pair in the opening frame. William Alvarez knocked his first collegiate home run in the bottom of the third to cut the lead in half.
- Mary Washington extended their lead to 6-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth.
- Ryan Cuadros knocked a sacrifice fly to give etch into the Eagles' lead in the bottom of the fifth.
- Down 10-3 in the bottom of the seventh, the Saints put up a four-run inning in an effort to shift momentum, highlighted by a three-run blast off the bat of Jonathan McMath.
- Mary Washington would hold the Marymount bats at bay down the stretch, taking the win home.
- McMath led the Saints in run production, posting a trio of RBI.Â
- Bobby Leitzel, Andrew Schaeb, and Jordan Dickson each knocked a pair of hits.
- Evan Schick punched a double with an RBI on the night.
- Sean Quinn threw 1.1 innings of relief with a pair of punchouts.
