Men's Lacrosse Wins Third Straight

ARLINGTON, Va. -- Saints men's lacrosse won their third-straight game on Saturday in front of the home crowd over Nichols, 9-5.

The win puts the Saints early season record at 4-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Saints scored the first three goals of the afternoon unanswered, capped off by Bryan Maguire finding Santino Rossitto with the open look to give Marymount a quick 3-0 lead.
  • Nichols answered with four of their own unanswered to take the lead.
  • To close out the first half, the Saints scored three-straight out of the sticks of Roan Schumann, Mason Vandawater, and Rossitto.
  • The third quarter was a low-scoring affair, but the Saints managed to net a pair. Evan Mata scored off the pass from Maguire, followed by Maguire scoring one himself off the dish from Gavin Taylorson.
  • Mata assisted Kai Goo's fourth quarter goal before Nichols managed just one in the final minutes, sending the Saints to the win.
  • Maguire led the Saints with five points on a goal and four assists, adding a caused turnover and a ground ball.
  • Rossitto netted two while also causing a turnover and picking up a ground ball.
  • Ryan Casagrande caused two turnovers and picked up three ground balls.
  • Grant Gallaway picked up a pair of ground balls and caused a turnover.
  • Ian Fructuoso notched two points on a goal and an assist, adding two ground balls.
  • Cameron Glass went 11-16 out of the FOGO spot, picking up six ground balls.
  • Andrew Gardecki picked up a trio of ground balls, causing a turnover along the way.
  • Goo, Mata, Vandawater, Schumann, and Robert Kirkland IV added goals in the win.
  • Jacob Brooks earned the win in the goal, allowing just five goals with 14 total saves.
UP NEXT
  • Marymount will be on the road this Saturday, heading to Westminster for a 12 PM start.
  • They will be back at home in a week, hosting University of Hartford at 4 PM at Long Bridge Park.
