ARLINGTON, Va. -- Marymount men's basketball held off the Cyclones of Centenary University down the stretch to take the win, 67-62.
The win keeps the Saints perfect in Atlantic East play at 8-0, now 15-6 overall on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Miles Phillips sank the first bucket of the afternoon to give Marymount a quick advantage.
- A quick six-point run from the Cyclones put MU behind, with a three from Isaac Harris getting them quickly back within one.
- Trading shots, Marcus Stubbs sank a three to keep the Saints close.
- Anthoney McClary drained a three with under 13 minutes left in the half to even up the tally.
- A three from Reuben McEachern gave the Saints their first lead of the afternoon since the start of the game.
- The Cyclones put together a string of momentum to take a lead into the half, 31-29.
- Centenary continued to hold onto their lead in the opening minutes of the second half, with the crowd waiting for momentum shift from the Saints.
- Harris put in a three-pointer to tie it up, and after another Centenary score, the Saints went on a run.Â
- Scores from McClary and Muhsin Muhammad pushed Marymount ahead by five.
- Back-to-back three from Harris and Stubbs kept the Saints ahead despite the Cyclones having answers.
- A pair of free throws from Phillips and a drive down the lane from McEachern gave Marymount a needed double-digit lead.
- Despite Centenary hanging around, the Saints held onto their lead to claim the win inside of their home gym.
- Harris had a team-high 17 points, adding eight rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a block.
- Stubbs had 14 points with four rebounds, two steals, and a block.
- Phillips put up 10 for the Saints with six assists.
- McEachern led the way off of the bench with nine points and six rebounds.
- Muhammad notched seven with three rebounds.
