Bridgewater, VA. - Marymount women's lacrosse has earned a threepeat going three for three in the first three games.
This brings their record to 3-0 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Marymount takes control from the draw with Abby Dunn receiving the first control. This led to an immediate foul by the Eagles' defense, resulting in a goal from a free position by Ella Baker to give the Saints an early lead.
- The two teams continued a back and forth of possession until the Saints gained the second goal of the game, scored by Tess Valentino. This set the tone for the rest of the quarter where the Saints gained a total of 6 goals and conceded none to the Eagles in the first quarter.
- Marymount claimed the first goal of the second quarter, refusing to give Bridgewater room to recover after the first quarter. The Saints continued to score an additional 5 goals to finish out the half and only allowed 2 goals from Bridgewater. This ended the half with a score of 12-2.
- Arayla Garcia started the third quarter for the Saints by gaining the draw control. After Garcia passed the ball to advance the play down the field, the Eagles caused a turn over, starting their own series of attacks in an attempt to close the lead held by the Saints. The Eagles' attacks were mostly unsuccessful gaining only 1 goal for the Eagles, while the Saints added 2 more to the board in the third quarter bringing the score to 14-3.
- The Saints gave no reprieve starting the final quarter, scoring 3 goals in the first four minutes. Marymount slowed down their attacks and focused on their possession game, finishing out the game 17-4 only giving the Eagles 1 additional goal in the fourth.
