Softball Unable to Bat Down the Yellow-Jackets

Ashland, VA - Marymount softball opened their season with a two-game series against Randolph-Macon, taking losses in both games. Game one 0-8 and game two 1-9.
After their season opener the Saints will begin with a record of 0-2.

GAME ONE: 0-8
  • The first at bat for the Saints resulted in a quick three up three down with all batters striking out. The Saints defend in the field allowing only one batter on base before gaining all three outs from the following batters. The first out was earned from the circle with a strike out from Bailey Demusz, the second grounded out to 3rd base played by Kaylynn Johnson, and the final out was claimed by a pop-up to 2nd base caught by Kammie Brown.
  • The second and third innings ended in a stalemate between Marymount and Randolph-Macon with no runs scored.
  • The bottom of the fourth inning saw action from the Yellow-Jackets with three runs scored. One advanced from a throwing error by the Saints.
  • The game ended with Randolph-Macon gaining an additional 5 runs to end the game 0-8
  • Notable moments from the Saints: Bailey Demusz pitched three strikeouts. Kammie Brown led for the Saints in putouts with a total of five recorded while at 2nd base.
GAME TWO: 1-9
  • Marymount concedes four runs in the first two innings to start the second game.
  • The Saints break their shutout in the top of the 3rd with a run scored by Leila Hernandez batted in by Samantha Cinotti.
  • The Saints are unable to match the Yellow-Jackets in runs scored and end the game with a loss of 1-9
  • Notable moments for the Saints: Bailey Demusz pitched two innings and added a strike out to her stats. Samantha Papp showed out for the Saints with 10 putouts in the second game.
UP NEXT
  • The Saints will play at home on Tuesday February 25th against Washington College. The game will take place at 2pm in Washinton, DC at Nationals Youth Academy.
