Arlington, Va. -- Marymount men's volleyball handed out another sweep, this time against Division II team
Roberts Wesleyan University. This marks the teams second sweep in a row, both being at home. This win kept the Saints at a conference record of 1-0 and improved their overall record to 6-8.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Saints opened up their first strong, putting the first point on the board.
- The Redhawks quickly answered, tying up the set.
- Marymount trailed until a serving ace by Luke Pogue, which changed the games momentum.
- The Saints finished the first set strong, with a kill Diego Peña.
- The first set ended in favor of the Saints, 25-19.
- In a similar fashion, the Saints opened up the second set with the first point.
- The two teams stayed neck-in-neck until halfway through the set.
- Redhawk errors, a serving ace by Ethan Li, and a kill by Diego Peña gave Marymount a comfortable second set lead of 17-12.
- The second set finished similar the the first, with a final score of 25-19.
- The third set opened up with a Marymount point, gained by an attack error on the opposing team.
- The Redhawks gained a lead of 7-3 in the third set.
- This was answered with a Saint comeback, and a kill by Diego Peña tied the Saints and the Redhawks back up.
- Another kill by Diego Pena gave Marymount the lead back, where they then led 16-14.
- The third set was a nail-bitter, with the two teams tied up at 22-22.
- Three kills by Luke Pogue, Esteban Jauregui, and Mason Moore closed out the match for the Saints.
- By the end of the third set, the Saints looked at a scoreboard that read 25-23.
- Game leaders for kills include Diego Peña (8), Luke Pogue (6), and Esteban Jauregui (6).
- Both Luke Pogue and Esteban Jauregui landed two aces.
- Mason Moore earned four blocks.
- Evan Cao carried 24 assists.
