IMMACULATA, Pa. -- Marymount women's basketball took the court for the first time in since Dec. 14 on Saturday afternoon, opening up Atlantic East action to ring in the New Year against Immaculata.
Falling by a final tally of 78-65, the Saints record now sits at 3-9 on the season, 0-1 in the AEC.
NOTABLE
- Kaylah Barr led the scoring for Marymount with 16 on the afternoon, shooting 50% from the field. She added five boards and a pair of assists in the loss.
- Samantha Bulik dropped 14, with seven assists and a steal to her credit.
- Kelly Ceroll went 5-of-6 from the floor en route to 10 points, nabbing five rebounds, dishing out two assists, and notching a block in the contest.
- Ella Morrison pulled down a team-high six rebounds alongside her two blocks and a steal.
- Jaylah Thompson and Cara Vollmer each had six off of the bench for the Saints.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Marymount opened the contest with a jumper from Bulik and a score from Ceroll to give the Saints early momentum.
- Barr gave the Saints a six-point lead in the first quarter with her first bucket of the day.
- An eight-point run from the Mighty Macs a two-point advantage, but Thompson found Crystal Wright with an open look to even up the tally.
- The two teams traded threes, with Thompson dropping her own for Marymount, to keep the score evened up.
- Bulik dished the ball to Barr in the final seconds to cut into the Immaculata lead, heading into the second quarter down just two.
- With the Saints staying close, a three from Vollmer put them within a point with just over seven minutes left in the first half.
- A tip in from Wright and a layup from Ceroll gave Marymount the lead again with 5:15 left in the half.
- Scoring cooled down heading into the finale of the first half, with a three from Thompson tying it all up again to send the teams to the locker room at a stalemate.
- Trading shots in the first minutes of the second half, Marymount held a four-point lead with under three minutes in the third quarter.
- Immaculata utilized a six-point run down the stretch of the third quarter to take a lead heading into the fourth.
- The Mighty Macs went on the outscore the Saints 28-17 in the fourth quarter to take the AEC match up on their home court.
