HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Saints' offense struck first with a goal attempt in the first minutes of the game to force Goucher's formation into a defensive stance to start the game.
- Marymount continued this aggressive offensive strategy with a second goal attempt in the fourth minute of play.
- The Saints carried this aggression into their defensive strategy as well, having multiple fouls caused by both offensive and defensive players in an attempt to keep the Gophers in their defensive third.
- The game became a back and forth between goal attempts made by the Saints and shots taken by the Gophers.
- Marymount had a total of 3 saves in goal while Goucher had a total of 7 saves in goal. The Saints were able to break through the Goucher defense to get to goal while the Marymount defense was able to minimize the opportunities given to the Goucher offense.
- The Saints continued to challenge the Goucher defense but were unable to get a goal past the Gophers' goalie. The Marymount defense was able to shut down every goal attempt made by the Gophers to keep them from scoring. This kept the game at no goals scored by either team.
