Marymount Saints Trample the DelVal Aggies

Doylestown, Pennsylvania–The Saints take the win against the Aggies and maintain the shutout for a 2-0 win on the road.
 
This brings the Saints' record to 2-6-2.  

NOTABLE
  • Alvarado, Nicole and Harkins, Breanna were the dynamic duo of today's game.
  • Alvarado, Nicole scored the first goal of the game in the 72nd minute with an assist from Harkins.
  • Harkins, Breanna scored her own goal minutes later in the 85th minute with an assist from Alvarado to secure the win for the Saints.
  • Grace Needham started in goal for the Saints and denied all shots in the first half with 2 saves.
  • Mara Dufour played her first game in goal for the Saints and maintained the shutout with 3 saves in the second half.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The game began with a kickoff from DelVal where the Saints immediately stole possession and began their offensive attack. This began with a corner kick that resulted in a shot by Tonic that was blocked by the Aggies.'
  •  The Aggies fought back with multiple shots of their own that were diverted by the Saints' defense or saved by Needham.
  • The first half ended with a well fought, back and forth between the two teams but with neither team able to take the lead.
  • The second half saw an immediate offensive push by Marymount where both Alvarado and Tonic had back-to-back goal attempts, keeping the Aggies on the defensive.
  • The Saints' defense continued to back the offense by keeping the Aggies from any successful goal opportunities.
  • The 0-0 standoff was finally ended in the 72nd minute of the game by Alvarado with a goal assisted by Harkins.
  • The duo later decided to do a reply but this time with Harkins scoring the second goal of the game in the 85th minute with an assist from Alvarado, ending the game in a win for the Saints and a score of 2-0
UP NEXT
  • Marymount will be on the road for the next several games with the next game being played against Christopher Newport University on Wednesday Oct. 2 with a start time of 5pm.
  • The next home game with be Oct. 16 against Gwynedd Mercy University at 6pm.
