NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Marymount women's soccer headed down to the 757 for a rematch of last season's NCAA First Round with the Captains of nationally-ranked Christopher Newport University.
A tight battle throughout, the Saints fell by a close margin of 2-0. Their record now sits at 2-7-2 ahead of conference action around the corner.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CNU got on the board quickly in the first ten minutes, pushing one into the net in the ninth minute of the contest to put the Saints behind the eight ball early.
- In the 22nd minute, the Captains added on with another netted goal, giving them a 2-0 cushion.
- Harkins looked to cut into the lead with a strong shot on goal in the 28th minute, but it was narrowly swatted away by CNU's goalkeeper.
- The second half remained scoreless for both teams, with the Saints keeping CNU off of the board looking for an opportunity, but ultimately came up just short in the non-conference match.
UP NEXT
- Marymount will head down I-95 for a matchup with Mary Washington on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 1 PM.
- They will be back at home on Wednesday, Oct. 16, for an AEC matchup with the Griffins of Gwynedd Mercy.
