Women's Volleyball Gets Back in the Win Column at Ursinus

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. -- Marymount women's volleyball took down Ursinus on Friday evening on the road, 3-1, to get back into the win column ahead of the free weekend from action.

The Saints now sit at 2-11 on the year, looking to build off of the momentum from the big road win. 

NOTABLE
  • Harper Wolf had a career day in the win, knocking a career-high 23 kills, knocking at a huge .314 clip, to help lead the offensive charge. Adding on two blocks and a dig, the sophomore posted 24.5 points to lead the Saints.
  • Emily Genau had six kills and nine digs en route to 10.0 points on the night.
  • Katee Stromberg swatted down three blocks, two solo and one assisted, with five kills for 7.5 points.
  • Natalie Bialecki continued to impress at the setter spot, dishing out 37 assists with eight digs, two block assists, and two kills.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a Ursinus point to start the match, the Saints went on a 6-0 run to take a commanding lead early in the first set. Continuing to maintain pressure, the Saints took advantage of two errors from the Grizzly Bears to take set one with ease, 25-14.
  • The second set proved to be a tighter matchup, with Ursinus holding on to give the Saints a run. Tied up at 19-19, Marymount used a quick three-point spurt, with kills from Maya Harris and Bialecki, to take the advantage and never look back. Wolf shot down the deciding kill to take set two.
  • Ursinus clawed their way to a win in set three to force a fourth set.
  • A back-and-forth affair in the fourth set pushed Ursinus to a 18-17 advantage, but a 8-2 run down the stretch gave the Saints the win, with none other than Wolf finishing out the victory. with the final kill of the evening. 
UP NEXT
  • Marymount will take the week before hitting the court again, heading back to the Worthington Classic to retake their crown in D.C.
  • They will begin the weekend with a pair of matches on Friday, Sept. 27 before finishing up on Saturday.
  • Their next home match will be on Oct. 23 against AEC foe Gwynedd Mercy.
