OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Matching the highest-scoring tie in program history, Marymount men's soccer tied Stevenson 4-4 in a back-and-forth battle on Wednesday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The result matches the 4-4 tie against Eastern Mennonite on Sept. 6, 2009 as the highest-scoring tie in Marymount men's soccer history.
- Erick Shoetter-Rojas scored twice in the first half, including a penalty kick with 13 seconds remaining to give MU a 2-0 lead at halftime. He now has four goals on the season.
- Stevenson responded with two goals in the first nine minutes of the second half to draw even.
- Jonathan Guevara scored his first goal of the season in the 64th minute to put Marymount back on top, 3-2. Leonardo Torres was credited with the assist on the play, his third of the year.
- After Stevenson tied again in the 73rd minute, Torres pushed the Saints ahead for the final time in the 80th minute. Daniel Yi recorded his first assist of the season on the play.
- Not to be outdone, Stevenson tied the game for the third time in the second half with a goal in the 84th minute, which ended up being the final score of the day in a 4-4 tie.
- Stevenson generated nine corner kicks to just one for Marymount.
- The Mustangs felt a sense of urgency in the second half, firing off 14 shots compared to just four for the Saints in the final 45 minutes.
