ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – Marymount men's soccer battled and hung on to earn a 1-1 tie on the road against North Carolina Wesleyan on Friday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Marymount struck first with a goal from Jefferson Lopez Coreas in the 58th minute. It's his third goal of the season.
- Erick Shoetter-Rojas was credited with the assist, his third in the past two games.
- North Carolina Wesleyan finally got on the board to draw even in the 82nd minute.
- Just prior to that goal, Liam Sloan made a diving save on a free kick going to the far post to keep MU on top. It was one of seven saves for the first-year keeper.
- Overall, NC Wesleyan outshot the Saints, 16-3, and held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.
HEAR FROM COACH KALIN
- "This was one of those games where you just hold on and hope for a result. With five key players out, we got a point on the road against a good team. We will take it and move on. Liam's diving save late in the game was game-changing and special."
