Marymount Takes a Loss on the Road Against Washington College

Chestertown, MD. – Marymount Women's Soccer had their second game on the road as well as their second loss, just missing opportunities to even the score against Washington College.

This brings the Saints to a 0-2-0 record beginning the season.  

NOTABLE
  • Carrillo-Torres, Daniela was the first to shoot for either team. Carrillo-Torres had the only shot on goal for Marymount during the first half. The goal attempt took place in the 9th minute of the game.
  • Carballo, Elinda played her second game as a Saint and had her first goal attempt just missing high during the 65th minute of the game.
  • Lanzas, Eliana saw the most goal attempts during the game for Marymount with 2 shots on goal during the second half. The goal attempts took place during the 77th and 84th minutes of the game.
  • Mockenhaupt, Hannah saved 6 shots from entering the net during the span of the full 90 minutes.
  • Marymount recovered in the second half to keep Washington College from gaining any goals after half-time.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Saints claimed the first goal attempt of the game but were not able to hold on to the momentum as Washington College had the first goal a few minutes after the Saints' attempt.
  • The Marymount defense had to work hard to minimize the effectiveness of the Washington offense as multiple goal attempts continued to take place resulting in two more goals against the Saints.
  • Half-time gave new life to the Saints' play and lead to 4 close goal opportunities with 3 of those opportunities being on goal shots.
  • While the Marymount defense was able to hold Washington to no goals scored in the second half, the Washington defense was able to counter the strides made by the Saints offense keeping the score 0-3 in favor of Washington.
