VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Marymount women's volleyball opened up their 2024 season on the road, playing a pair on Friday evening to start off their four-match slate at Virginia Wesleyan.
After a 3-0 sweep of Geneva to open up the year with a win, the Saints battled down to the wire against William Peace, falling in five sets.Â

NOTABLE
- Emily Genau, in her first match donning the blue, swatted a match-high 10 kills in the opening match while hitting at a .292 clip. She added 13 digs to her line for 12.0 total points.Â
- Katee Stromberg and Maya Harris each added five kills in the winning effort.
- Natalie Bialecki had 32 assists in the match, adding eight digs.
- Bialecki and Stromberg each put up three block assists.Â
- Eliza Freeman added 10 digs.
Marymount 2 - William Peace 3
- Genau had another strong outing in the tight nightcap, powering a team-high 19 kills with a .333 hitting percentage. She added 14 digs to collect 21.0 points.
- Harper Wolf put up 17 kills in the tight loss, hitting .205.
- Bialecki put up an impressive 44 assists in the affair, adding 12 digs.
- Ava Humphries and Renae Rohrer each picked up 11 digs.
UP NEXT
- The Saints will continue their stint at the beach tomorrow, taking on ODAC favorites Virginia Wesleyan at 10 AM before finishing off with Kean at 12 PM.
- Marymount will be at home next weekend, hosting a quad match with three visiting opponents.
