TYSONS, Va. - Marymount baseball picked up a key Atlantic East win on Friday evening to open up their three-game set with Marywood, 12-3.
The Saints improve to 29-8 overall with the win, now 13-3 in conference action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Saints plated three in the bottom of the first to get the offense rolling, with Jonathan McMath, Kevin Knoess, and Jay Beavers each driving in a run.
- The Pacers pushed across a run in both the second and third to cut into the Saints' lead, but Marymount answered with a five-run bottom of the third.
- McMath knocked a towering home run over the right field wall to notch the first run of the inning, with Quincy Via providing the big blast later in the frame for his first collegiate grand slam to give the Saints a healthy cushion.
- Craig Sodano knocked an RBI single in the sixth to extend Marymount's lead.
- McMath knocked his second homer of the day to plate three more runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
- The Saints shut the door down the stretch to secure the win.
- David Muirhead pitched a gem to earn his seventh win of the season on the mound. The junior went 8.1 innings pitched, allowing just two earned runs, while striking out five.
- McMath collected five total RBI on the night, going 3-for-5 at the plate with two bombs.
- Via collected all four of his RBI with his grand slam.

- The Saints will finish out their series tomorrow against the Pacers beginning at 12 PM at Capital One Park.
