GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. - After being postponed due to weather, Marymount softball faced Gwynedd Mercy University this afternoon for a conference doubleheader. The Saints claimed the first game 6-3 and tied the second game 1-1 in the 10th inning after it was suspended.
GAME ONE
- Starting off the top of the first inning strong, Jaclyn Burch doubled down the left field line, bringing Kammie Brown home.
- In the same inning, Ashleigh Mannion singled to left field and then advanced to second on the throw; allowing J. Burch to score.
- The Griffins gained three runs in the second inning bringing the score to 3-2.Â
- After three scoreless innings, the Saints took the lead in the top of the seventh after scoring four runs. Haley Greer and Brown both singled, bringing in one RBI each. Kaylynn Johnson doubled to left field, acquiring two RBIs.Â
- Bailey Demusz pitched for a total of 5.0 innings. She totaled seven strike outs and gave up zero earned after facing 19 batters.
GAME TWO
- A slower paced night cap resulted in a tie 1-1 after a suspension in the 10th inning.
- The Griffins broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the sixth inning after scoring an unearned run on a wild pitch.Â
- The Saints tied the game in the top of the seventh after Samantha Richtol singled to left field and J. Burch scored.
- Shanyn Burch pitched a total of 9.0 innings, putting up three strikeouts and zero earned runs after seeing a total of 34 batters in this extended game.Â
- The game will be resumed at a later date.Â
UP NEXT
- The Saints will travel to Gettysburg College on Thursday for a doubleheader at 3 PM and 5 PM.
- On Saturday, they will play in another conference doubleheader, this time at Marywood University at 1 PM and 3 PM.
- Marymount is next scheduled to play at Barcroft Park on Thursday, April 18 against the University of Mary Washington beginning at 3 PM.
