Track & Field Hits Competition Across D.C./NOVA Area

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Marymount track & field put together two days of strong competition across two separate meets between Friday and Saturday, with student-athletes taking on both the Dalton Ebanks Invitational at George Mason University and the Bison Classic hosted by Gallaudet University. 

DALTON EBANKS 
  • Avery Finnegan (19:01.30) and Brier Amerlinck (19:05.38) each broke the school record in the 5000m run at the event.
  • Marcone Pessoa placed 21st out of 31 participants, primarily made up of Division I talent, with a mark of 5.94 in the men's long jump event at George Mason.
  • Deziree Conklin-Boone took 15th out of 30 participants in the women's 400m hurdle event with a time of 1:07.95.
  • Samuel Struggs picked up a time of 23.45 in the men's 200m dash.
  • Mikayla Stephens notched a time of 2:34.38 in the women's 800m. Abby Hughes posted a time of 2:36.93 in the same event.
BISON CLASSIC
  • With a sixth place finish in the men's 100m dash, Struggs (11.29) broke the school record in the event.
  • Ariana Grant won the pole vault event, hitting a mark of 2.85m.
  • Paola Matias picked up an eighth place finish in the women's 800m run with a time of 2:41.05.
  • There were four top-ten finishes in the women's 1500 meter run: Stephens in fourth (5:20.92), Matias in sixth (5:39.55), Hughes in eighth (5:46.72), and Madeleine Pare in 10th (6:01.13).
  • Gabrielle Weirsky notched third in the women's 5000m run with a time of 23:19.11.
  • Brooke Hamer notched eighth in the women's 100m hurdle event, clocking in a time of 17.15.
  • Ella Morrison (4.67m) and Dana Freimane (4.64m) finished eighth and ninth, respectively, in the women's long jump event.
  • Isabella Rivera notched a strong second place finish in the women's discus at 29.87m. She also finished fifth in the shot put with a mark of 9.44m and a seventh spot in the hammer at 27.51m.
  • The Saints took up five of the top-10 spots in the women's javelin event: Grant picked up third (25.43m), Rivera in fourth (25.41m), Morrison in seventh (24.33m), Emerson Aber in ninth (22.61m), and Hughes in 10th (21.82m).
  • There were a pair of top-10 finishes in the men's 1500 meter run: Amanuel Degife picked up seventh (4:50.81), with Zafit Olea in 10th (4:59.21).
  • Cameron Parvizian placed second in the men's 10,000 meter run at 37:37.67, with teammate Louis Aquilina notching fourth at 39:50.40.
  • Cadyn Johnson had a third place outing in the men's pole vault with a mark of 2.65m.
  • Struggs placed fourth in the men's long jump, hitting a mark of 6.19m.
  • Hezzy Ntube put up a third place finish in the discus with a mark of 35.99m, also placing ninth in the men's shot put with a mark of 9.79m.

  • The Saints will next take on the Bison Outdoor Classic hosted by Bucknell the full next weekend, Friday, Apr. 12 to Sunday, Apr. 14.
