Softball Drops Final Regular Season Games Against Salisbury

ARLINGTON, VA -- Marymount softball played their last doubleheader of the regular season against Salisbury University after rescheduling the game from 4/05. In a pair of tough games, the Saints fell short against the Seagulls 23-6 and 5-0.

GAME ONE
  • The Seagulls started the game with a total of six runs. The Saints were able to put up three runs with a two-run double from Kaylynn Johnson and then another double from Kaylee Atkins, bringing in one run.
  • The Seagulls went on to gain eight more runs in the next two innings. In the bottom of the third inning, the Saints rallied three more runs following a three-run home run Kaylee Atkins. 
  • Unable to acquire any mor e runs, the Seagulls picked up nine runs in the top of the fourth putting the score at 23-6. The game then ended in the fifth inning. 
  • Bailey Demusz pitched a total of 3.1 innings putting up two strikeouts and 13 earned runs after seeing 32 batters.
GAME TWO
  • The Seagulls broke a scoreless tie in the top of the third inning by earning three runs. They finished the game by adding two more runs and ended the game with a score of 5-0 after the Saints were unable to acquire any runs.
  • The Saints totaled two hits; a single from Kammie Brown and a single from Jaclyn Burch. 
  • Shanyn Burch pitched the entire 7.0 innings, she put up four strikeouts and five earned runs after facing 31 batters.
UP NEXT
  • The first round of the AEC conference games will take place on Friday and Saturday, time is TBA. 
  • The championship games will occur on Friday, 5/10 and Saturday, 5/11. Location and time is TBA.
