ARLINGTON – Marymount men's lacrosse dug deep to pull out an 11-9 win over Neumann on Wednesday night.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• After an early man-up goal by Paul Vey (2G), neither side found the back of the net again until Jack Williams (2G, 2A) scored with 11:57 left in the second quarter.
• A pair of goals from Santino Rossito (2G) and Vey pushed Marymount to a 4-1 lead with 4:29 left in the second quarter.
• Neumann scored twice in the final three minutes of the half to get within one at 4-3 going into halftime.
• After Neumann tied the game at 5-5 early in the third, Bryan Maguire (2G, 2A) and Williams went back-to-back to bring Marymount back in the driver's seat.
• The Saints mostly kept Neumann at bay down the stretch before the Knights drew within one with 5:35 left in the game.
• Not to be denied, Mason Vandawater (1G, 2A) ripped a goal to put the win on ice with 3:29 to go, giving Marymount an insurmountable 11-9 lead.
• Marymount's defense shined on Wednesday, led by Evan Motta (4 CTs) and Spencer Carfang (3 CTs). The Saints held Neumann to 18-of-28 on clear attempts.
• Jacob Brooks got the win in the cage with 11 saves.

UP NEXT

• Marymount earned the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament and will host No. 6 seed Marywood on Saturday.
• Time is still to be announced.
• The winner will travel to face Gwynedd Mercy on Wednesday, May 1.
