ARLINGTON, VA -- Marymount softball played a conference doubleheader against Centenary University on Senior Day. The Saints celebrated seniors,
Jaclyn Burch,
Shanyn Burch, and
Abbie Potter. They split the games with the Cyclones with scores of 3-0 and 6-2.
GAME ONE
- The Saints broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the second with a single to left center from Ashleigh Mannion to bring Shanyn Burch home.
- In the same inning, Kaylee Atkins, while on third, scored on a passed ball.
- In the fourth inning, Kaylynn Johnson hit a home run to bring in the third and final run of this game. The Cyclones were unable to pick up any, leaving the score at 3-0.
- Shanyn Burch pitched a total of 6.3 innings, putting up one strikeout and zero earned runs after facing 26 batters.
GAME TWO
- In a faster-paced nightcap, the Cyclones picked up three runs in the top of the first inning.
- In the second inning, Atkins hit a sacrifice fly out to left field, bringing Johnson home.
- In the third inning, Jenna Jew had a sacrifice fly; allowing Leila Hernandez to score. The score stands at 3-2 going into the fourth inning.
- The Cyclones add two more runs in the fourth inning and one more in the seventh while the Saints do not add any more. The final score ended in favor of the Cyclones, 6-2.
- Bailey Demusz pitched a total of 3.2 innings, putting up four strikeouts and five earned runs after seeing 22 batters.
- Shanyn Burch relieved Demusz and pitched 3.1 innings. She had two strikeouts and gave up one earned run after seeing 14 batters.
UP NEXT
- Tomorrow, the Saints travel to Gwynedd Valley to play Gwynedd Mercy University at 1 PM (resuming game from 4/9) and again at 2 PM.
- Their last regular season game will take place at home at Barcroft Park on Wednesday. The games will take place at 4 PM and 6 PM against Catholic University.Â
