HACKETTSTOWN, Pa. - Marymount women's lacrosse moved to 3-1 in conference action with a decisive win over Centenary on Saturday, 22-3.
The Saints' overall record improves to 8-6 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bailey Gehler put the Saints on the board first in the contest, assisted by Natalia Ortiz, at the 10:45 mark to kick off their offensive output.
- After the Cyclones evened up the tally, the Saints answered with seven unanswered goals to take a commanding lead. Tess Valentino had three goals in the spurt of offense, with Gehler adding two, and Megan Edens and Taylor Chepren each adding one.
- Centenary put one in the net to close out the quarter, going into the second with the Saints up 8-2.
- The Saints outscored the Cyclones 11-1 in the second quarter of play. Brooke Bretney kicked if off with an unassisted goal, followed by Chepren being fed from Gehler. Gehler then put two more in the net for herself, with Lawson Kopfinger and Jillian Blair getting on the board.
- Marymount put three more in during the second half, keeping the Cylcones off of the board, to take the game to the final whistle with the decisive difference.
- Riley Love put up five points on her five assists.Â
- Edens had a pair of goals alongside four ground balls, two caused turnovers, and five draw controls.
- Ortiz added three ground balls with her assist.
- Jula Erpe had two ground balls and a caused turnover.
- Gehler had a powerful day across the board, notching six goals and three assists for nine points, adding four ground balls, three caused turnovers, and five draw controls.
- Valentino had six points on four goals and two assists.
- Abby Dunn had seven draws with three ground balls.
- Chepren put up five points on four goals and an assist, with a ground ball and a caused turnover.
- Blair added three goals.
- Bretney had two goals and an assist for three points.
UP NEXT
- The Saints will be back at home next Saturday for their final regular season home game against Marywood, starting at 12 PM.
