Baseball Takes Series Over Cabrini with Decisive 14-1 Win

TYSONS, Va. - Marymount baseball bounced back on Monday evening, powering to a 14-1 win over the Cabrini to take the three-game series.

The Saints improve their overall record to 17-5 on the season, moving to 5-1 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Cabrini got on the board first with a run in the top of the second inning, but starter Parker Casselberry managed the damage to keep the game tight.
  • A few scoreless frames later, the Saints took the lead in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI walk from Jordan Dickson, scoring Jonathan McMath who doubled earlier in the frame. The Saints took the lead with an RBI from Quincy Via. 
  • Marymount tacked on in the next inning via an RBI double from Alec Reilly, scoring both McMath and Kevin Knoess.
  • The Saints plated six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a commanding lead, highlighted by a three-run home run from McMath, a two-RBI single from Knoess, and an RBI single from Daniel Fernandez.
  • Craig Sodano, Bobby Leitzel, and Ryan Cuadros each punched RBI hits in the bottom of the eighth to push the lead to 14-1, the game's final tally.
  • Casselberry earned the win on the mound, moving to 3-0 on the year, punching out a career high eight batter in the contest.
  • Ryan Mariani earned his first save of the season, going 3.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen with three strikeouts.
  • Reilly went 3-for-4 at the plate, knocking a double and a triple to his credit. 
  • McMath went 2-4 with a home run, a double, and three RBI.
  • Leitzel and Cuadros each collected a pair of hits, with Leitzel punching a double.
  • Quincy Via had a double in the win.
UP NEXT
  • The Saints will start off their three-game series with Immaculata on the road this Friday, with first pitch slated for 3 PM.
  • They will finish out the set at home on Saturday, taking on the Mighty Macs in doubleheader fashion beginning at 12 PM at Capital One Park.
