FAYETTEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA -- Marymount softball played a doubleheader at Methodist University this afternoon. The Saints couldn't quite keep up with the Monarchs as they suffered a back to back loss with a score of 5-2 for both games. 

GAME ONE

• The Saints totaled seven hits for this game with singles from Haley Greer, Jenna Jew, Emma McCormack, and Shanyn Burch and doubles from Jaclyn Burch and Kaylynn Johnson. 
• The Saints were able to put their two runs on the board in the 6th inning with a double to left center from Johnson to allow Jew and Asleigh Mannion to advance to home plate. This brought the score to 5-2. Despite these two runs, the Saints fell short to the Monarchs. 
• Bailey Demusz pitched a total of 4.0 innings, putting up three strikeouts and five earned runs after facing 20 batters.

GAME TWO

• The Saints beat the Monarchs on the board in the first inning as Samantha Richtol singled to left center, allowing Jew to advance to second and Mannion to score. 
• The Monarchs added two runs in the third inning putting the score at 2-1.
• In the 5th inning, Richtol grounded out to short stop, giving Johnson the opportunity to score their third run.
• Their success stops here as Methodist scored one run in the 5th inning and two in sixth inning, ending the game with a score of 5-2. 

UP NEXT 

• Tomorrow's games against Meredith College and Eastern Mennonite University are canceled as well as Sunday's game against Brevard.
• The Saints will travel to Newport News on Sunday to play a doubleheader at Christopher Newport University. The games will take place at Captains Park at 1 PM and 3 PM.
