THOUSAND OAKS, CALIFORNIA -- At their second day of the Cal-Lu-Fornia Invitational, Marymount men's volleyball faced Wentworth Institute of Technology. In a quick 3-0 sweep, the Saints fell short 25-15, 25-23, 25-17 for just their third loss of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Esteban Jauregui and Devon Robinson both totaled eight kills each. Luke Morris was close behind with seven.
- Evan Cao contributed with 13 assists and Mason Moore and Gavin Poe defended the net, each with two blocks.
- Struggling to make point earning plays, the Saints fell short in the first frame but Pogue and Jauregui put up hard kills despite their shortcoming.
- The Saints pushed back harder in the second set as Evan Cao had nine assists to offensive players, Robinson, Morris, and Jauregui. With the score tied at 22-22, the Saints put up a huge triple block (Moore, Robinson, Cao) to deny the Leopards their next point. Despite this big play, the Saints could not secure the second frame.
- The Leopards claimed their victory with a long consecutive run in the third set, giving the Saints their third loss of the 2024 season. After setting a program record for best start with 11-0 earlier this season, the record currently stands at 15-3.
