Softball Splits First Day of Fastpitch Dreams

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Marymount Softball traveled down south this week to participate in Fastpitch Dreams. Day one they faced Saint Elizabeth University in the morning, falling short 3-0 and Misericordia University in the afternoon, claiming the victory 3-2. 

GAME ONE
  • A slow first game for the Saints resulted in zero runs and six hits.
  • The first inning contained the most action with a double to right center from Leila Hernandez.
  • The Eagles hit the scoreboard first, gaining their three runs across the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th innings.
  • Aggressive plays included stolen bases from both Samantha Cinotti and Jenna Jew.
  • Angelica Gurevich pitched for a total of 4.0 innings putting up one strikeout and only three earned runs.
GAME TWO
  • The Saints put themselves on the board in the 6th inning with a single to left field from Kaylee Atkins allowing Hailey Leamer to score.
  • Later in the inning, Jaclyn Burch singled through the right side, Ashleigh Mannion advanced to second and Tara Corcoran brought home their second run of the day.
  • The Saints end the 6th inning with a tied score of 2-2. 
  • The bottom of the 7th secured the victory for the Saints as Bailey Demusz singled with a bunt, allowing Samantha Cinotti to advance to third. Kammie Brown reached first on a fielder's choice, advancing Samantha Cinotti to home plate and ending the game 3-2 against the Cougars. 
  • Bailey Demusz pitched all 7.0 innings, putting up four total strikeouts and only one earned run after facing 28 batters. 
UP NEXT
  • Tomorrow, the Saints will stay in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to face King's College at 9 AM at Central Park and Penn State Harrisburg at 1 PM also at Central Park.
  • On Friday, they will play Methodist University in a doubleheader at 2 PM and 4 PM in Fayetteville, North Carolina at Don Price Field.
