ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Facing some adversity in its final road conference match of the season, Marymount men's volleyball rallied to finish off a 3-1 victory over Elizabethtown on Saturday afternoon.
NOTABLE
- Mason Moore had seven kills with no errors to finish with a .467 hitting percentage. He also added a team-high six total blocks at the net.
- Devon Robinson had a well-rounded stat line on Saturday: 12 kills, three aces, four blocks, and 10 digs.
- Esteban Jauregui also had 12 kills and added four blocks, as well.
- Marymount's defense stood out, holding a 13-6 advantage on blocks and 62-49 on digs. As a result, the Saints held Elizabethtown to a .145 hitting percentage as a team.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In set one, both teams traded points until Marymount pushed its lead to 18-14. Luke Pogue scored back-to-back points late in the set to give MU the victory, 25-21.
- Set two was filled with runs as both teams traded consecutive four-point runs to make things interesting. Eventually, the Blue Jays held a set point at 24-21 with serve.
- Marymount got the next four points and eventually pulled out the set, 28-26.
- The Saints led by as many as four in set three but Elizabethtown rallied to take the set, 26-24.
- Four straight points late in the fourth set allowed Marymount to gain some breathing room and win the clincher, 25-21.
UP NEXT
- The Saints return to Converse Family Fieldhouse on Wednesday to take on No. 2 Southern Virginia to close out CVC action.
- Two more home matches will follow on Friday (Senior Day) and Saturday.
