ARLINGTON, VA. - Marymount men's volleyball played their last conference match of the season tonight against Southern Virginia University. The Saints fell short against the undefeated team in a quick 3-0 match (25-11, 27-25, 25-20).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Saints started slowly with a six point deficit early in the first set. Notable plays included kills from Mason Moore and Devon Robinson with assists from Joe Crowder. The Knights with a 24-0 record this season maintained a large point lead and ultimately closed out the frame 25-11.
- Picking up the pace in the second frame, the Saints tightened the gap with strong attacks at the net from Robinson, Gavin Poe, and Will Wright. With the score at 23-23, the Saints and Knights went point-for-point an attack error from Pena gave Southern Virginia the victory 27-25.
- Numerous kills from Robinson and Wright in the third frame was just not enough, the Saints fell short 25-20 allowing the Knights to maintain their undefeated status.
- The Saints close out their conference matches with a 6-2 record and an overall record of 20-7.Â
UP NEXT
- On Friday, the Saints will play Hood College at home at 6 PM. This will also be senior day.
- On Saturday, they will play their last match of the regular season against Messiah University at home at 3 PM.
- The quarterfinals for the Continental Volleyball Conference will take place on Tuesday, April 9th.
