ARLINGTON, Va. - Marymount women's lacrosse hosted the Eagles of Juniata College on Wednesday evening for non-conference action.
Dropping the contest by a final score of 16-12, the Saints fall to 4-5 on the season, still awaiting conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles got out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first quarter, with Taylor Chepren cutting the score in half at the 2:27 mark with her first goal of the day.Â
- Riley Love sank the equalizer shortly thereafter to even up the tally heading into the second quarter of play.
- After a Juniata goal in the opening minutes of the second quarter, Bailey Gehler got on the board with her first goal of the day to tie up the score yet again.
- Juniata scored four unanswered to take a 7-3 lead.
- Kaylee Heath cut into the lead with a goal at the 4:11 mark to notch her first one of the day.Â
- After another pair of Eagles goals, Gehler sank her second goal of the evening to keep the Saints close.
- Marymount opened the second half of play with back-to-back goals, the first one coming from Chepren unassisted, followed by Love finding Heath with the open look.
- Juniata scored six straight going into the fourth quarter to take a commanding 16-7 lead.
- Love found Heath again for her third goal of the day, followed by another one out of the stick of Chepren.
- Love scored one of her own, followed by Jillian Blair getting on the board, finalized by Gehler sinking the final goal of the evening, with the assist credited to Abby Dunn, to close out the contest with a five-goal run.
- Love finished the day with four total points, two goals and two assists, with three ground balls.
- Megan Edens notched four draw controls, three ground balls, and a caused turnover in the loss.
- Heath rounded out the day with her three goals and a caused turnover.
- Jula Erpe picked up a pair of ground balls and caused a turnover.
- Gehler, alongside her three goals, picked up five ground balls, earned four draw controls, and caused a turnover.Â
- Dunn had four draw controls, two ground balls, and two caused turnovers.
- Chepren finished the evening with three goals and two ground balls.
UP NEXT
- The Saints will get back to action this weekend on the road, heading to Chatham on Saturday for a 12 PM first draw.
- They will then kick off Atlantic East play next Wednesday against Immaculata at home.Â
- The contest will be at 4 PM.
