Women's Lacrosse Holds Tight, Falls to Arcadia

GLENSIDE, Pa. - Marymount women's lacrosse dropped a tight battle with the Arcadia Knights on Saturday afternoon, ultimately falling by a final score of 12-to-8.

The Saints now sit at 4-4 overall on the season, still awaiting the start of Atlantic East action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Tess Valentino opened the scoring for the contest, with teammate Taylor Chepren finding the junior with the open look to give the Saints an early 1-0 advantage.
  • Back-to-back goals from the Knights put MU behind, but another Valentino goal, assisted by Lawson Kopfinger, evened the score up at two apiece after the first quarter of play.
  • After falling behind by a goal again, Bailey Gehler answered off the pass from Riley Love to tie up the tally again, this time 3-3.
  • A pair of unanswered goals out the stick of Arcadia put Marymount in a two-goal hole, but Ella Baker found Megan Edens to put the Saints within one heading into halftime.
  • It was Edens again to open the second half of play, sinking her second goal of the day from the pass Chepren to even up the tally at 5-5.
  • A 7-1 run from the Knights was the difference maker, putting the Saints in a deficit they could not climb out of.
  • The final two goals of the game came from Valentino and Edens to finish off their strong performances.
  • Edens led the Saints with four goals in the loss, adding four draw controls, a ground ball, and a caused turnover.
  • Valentino put three in the net for the Saints, adding both a ground ball and a caused turnover to her line.
  • Gehler had the Saints' lone other goal off of the bench.
  • Chepren dished out four assists on the day with a ground ball and a caused turnover.
  • Love (2), Kopfinger, and Baker each added assists in the contest.
  • Natalia Ortiz had a draw control, a ground ball, and a caused turnover.
  • Jula Erpe had two ground balls and a caused turnover.
  • Abby Dunn had three draw controls, two ground balls, and a caused turnover.
  • Hannah Smith notched 14 saves and three ground balls on the day.
