ARLINGTON, VA. -- Marymount men's volleyball faced Kean University Saturday afternoon for their fifth conference match this season. The Saints swept the cougars in a quick 3-0 match to be 5-0 for their conference record.

NOTABLE

• Diego Peña and Devon Robinson each had a total of 12 kills. Will Wright was trailing close behind with a total of 11 kills.
• Mason Moore defended the net with three blocks. 
• Diego Peña also led the team in assists with a total of 24 and digs with a total of 14.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• In a tight first set, the Saints had a four point consecutive run early on to tie the game at 9-9. Notable plays included a kill from Mason Moore with an assist from Joe Crowder. Going point-for-point with the Cougars for the remainder of the set, the Saints were able to secure the set 25-23 with a kill from Peña.
• In a similar fashion, the second frame was just as close. Strong offensive plays from Wright, Robinson, and Pogue and defensive plays from Darvin Guan allowed the Saints to claim this frame with a score of 26-24. 
• The third and final set of this match was a breeze for the Saints as they maintained the lead the entirety of the frame with the largest gap at 18-10. With another kill from Peña, the match closed with a score of 25-17 and the Saints earned their fifth conference win of the 2024 season.

UP NEXT

• On Tuesday, the Saints will have another home match at 6 PM against Stevenson University.
• On Friday, they will travel to Huntingdon, Pa. to play Juniata College at 7 PM for another conference match.
• Saturday will also be a conference match, this one against Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, Pa. at 1 PM.
