ARLINGTON – Seven unanswered goals in the second half allowed Mary Washington to pull away from Marymount men's lacrosse on Saturday afternoon at Long Bridge Park, 16-7.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Marymount responded to an early UMW goal with a man-up tally from Bryan Maguire (2G, 1A) with an assist from Jack Williams (2G, 3A) with 9:52 left in the first quarter.
- Over the next 12 minutes, UMW raced out to a 5-1 advantage before Maguire's second goal.
- Three goals over an 11-minute span of the second and third quarters allowed Marymount to cut the deficit to 7-5. Goals during this run came from Paul Vey (1G), Ian Fructuoso (1G), and Williams.
- Mary Washington responded with seven straight goals to build a 15-5 lead with 8:46 to play.
- Williams and Santino Rossitto (1G, 1A) rounded out Marymount's scoring as the Saints fell, 16-7.
- Spencer Carfang scooped a career-high five ground balls and caused a career-high two turnovers.
- Gavin Taylorson (1A) caused a career-high three turnovers and also nabbed four ground balls.
- Austin Bergey went 6-of-8 on faceoffs and scooped three ground balls.
UP NEXT
- Marymount will finally journey away from the friendly confines of Long Bridge Park and close out non-conference play with a journey to face Manhattanville on Saturday, March 30 at 1 PM.
- Conference play will open on the road against Immaculata on Wednesday, April 3 at 4 PM.
- The Saints will return to Arlington to host Gwynedd Mercy on Wednesday, April 10 at 4 PM.
