ARLINGTON, Va. - Marymount women's lacrosse opened up their home slate on Saturday afternoon, taking on Stockton in a non-conference matchup.
Falling by a final score of 18-7, the Saints move to 1-1 on the young season ahead of solid matchups throughout spring break.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Saints got out to a quick 3-0 lead with goals from Arayla Garcia and Bailey Gehler (2) to look sharp in the early going.
- After Stockton closed out the first period with a goal of their own to chip into the Saints' lead, Marymount answered with another pair of goals from Tess Valentino and Taylor Chepren to extend their momentum to 5-1.
- 13 unanswered goals from Stockton gave them a sizable lead heading into the final period of play.
- Garcia opened up the fourth quarter with her second goal of the day off a pass from Megan Edens to cut into the opposition's lead.
- After two more Stockton goals, Natalia Ortiz got on the board with an unassisted goal.
- Marymount were unable to cut into the lead any further, as Stockton finished out the win at its final tally of 18-7.
- Garcia finished her day with the two goals, adding eight total draw controls.
- Edens, Riley Love, and Jillian Blair each rounded out the contest with an assist.
- Olivia Durso, Jula Erpe, and Gehler each caused a turnover in the affair.
UP NEXT
- The Saints will be back at home next Wednesday, taking on Allegheny College at 2 PM.
- They will then hit the road to Hood College next Saturday, Mar. 9, for a 12 PM contest.
